A must see for anyone in the US. Obviously, it is not the Grand Canyon. But the geology is equally unique. Kiger Gorge is 2000 feet deep and over 6500 feet in width. There are two additional Gorges—Little Blitzen and Big Indian—within a fifteen minute drive of Kiger. These Ice Age creations are as deeply glaciated valleys as you will find anywhere. And unlike most, they are carved out of basalt rather than granite. I doubt you will find three so close together with easy to reach viewpoints. If you are interested in geology, be sure to look them up for more detail. This is magical, high altitude country—8000 to 9500 feet.
